#EquestrianBlogtober Day 20: Which Horsey events are you going to in the next few months and why?
Horse events in the autumn and winter, hmm, let me think.
Its been a couple of years since I made the trek up to Stoneleigh, but Your Horse Live is running over 3 days this year, with slight emphasis on training in the demos on the Friday. It's very tempting, especially now I have a blue badge and can park closer. Being on my feet all day is really hard, at Badminton I hired a mobility scooter which made it possible for me. Unfortunately this isn't available at Your Horse Live, yet.
It is infuriating having to consider how much energy I'm going to need to visit somewhere, remembering I need enough energy to get home too. Lack of scooter availability may mean I don't go. Even if I can hire one locally, I may not be able to get it in and out of my car.
The other event I am definitely going to is the British Dressage Convention at Hartpury later in November. As this focusses on demonstrations rather than shopping it is much easier for me as I can sit down and the few tradestands are all in the same small area.
I am lucky that Hartpury is only just over an hours drive for me, unless there's trouble on the M5! To drive there and back in a day is not too much for me, I can even manage 2 or 3 days in a row. The trip to Stoneleigh takes a lot more out of me, though I would love to go up to Your Horse Live, I already have my ticket for the 2 days of the convention.
It is fun to go to Olympia at Christmas, but thanks to the BBC Red Button coverage I am able to watch the Freestyle from home and my credit cards are saved from a late burst of shopping.
